With the help of a generous award from the Jewish Youth Fund, the MIKE Programme kicked-off at the end of October, after all the Yom Tovim under leadership of Emma Senitt. The new Y9 cohort of 30 have covered topics such as giving/receiving feedback, communication, teamwork and policies and procedures when working with children this term. They have already demonstrated that they are keen to learn and volunteer. They are a confident and excitable group with a lot of potential.
The majority of the MIKE Sheni (Year 10) and MIKE Sheli (Years 11 and 12) participants have been retained, and many of them volunteer for RJCC on a regular basis. The Year 12 and 13 group make up the majority of the part-time youth staff team, supporting our after-school and evening clubs plus the holiday schemes. They also attend their own MIKE Va’ad sessions once a month.
