Maccabi GB reached an important milestone by taking an U18 Girl's Lacrosse squad to the 2017 Israel Maccabiah Games for the first time ever. This was made possible by the generous help of the Jewish Youth Fund.
The team of 14 girls trained for seven months leading up to the games with Coach Carrie Goldstein and Team Manager Jess Tray. Only three lacrosse teams entered; Team GB, Israel and USA. Team GB defeated Israel in both matches but lost to the USA. The girls were thrilled to bring home the silver medal and hope that they have encouraged other countries to enter a lacrosse team for the 2021 Maccabiah games, and increase participation in the sport at home.
The girls will always remember that they were the first Jewish lacrosse team to represent GB in the Maccabiah games. They made history for the UK and our community.
